Hulu‘s The Handmaid’s Tale sequel series The Testaments has added Mattea Conforti (The Many Saints of NewarkPower) and Rowan Blanchard (Poker FaceSnowpiercer) to its cast of series regulars, which also includes Chase Infiniti, Lucy Halliday, and Ann Dowd.

Conforti will play ‘Becka,’ a girl of humble origins who attends school with Gilead’s elite. As she comes of age, she starts to question whether she wants the life she’s being groomed for.

Blanchard stars as Shunammite, a pampered teen from a prominent Gilead family whose status affords her a certain level of respect and power amongst her peers.

Both The Handmaid’s Tale and The Testaments are adaptations of Margaret Atwood’s acclaimed novels, with Bruce Miller serving as creator, showrunner, and executive producer for both series.

Set in the dystopian theocracy of Gilead, The Testaments unfolds more than 15 years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale. This series serves as a compelling coming-of-age story, centering on a new generation of young women who must navigate the harsh realities of a society built on oppression and control.

For these women, Gilead is the only world they have ever known—its rigid rules and indoctrination shaping their entire existence. With no memories of the freedoms once enjoyed beyond Gilead’s borders, they face a grim future of forced servitude and arranged marriages. However, as they grapple with these challenges, they begin to seek alliances, both old and new, determined to rise against the system and fight for the futures they deserve.

Mattea Conforti most recently portrayed ‘Young Janice Soprano’ in the Warner Bros. feature The Many Saints of Newark, a prequel to HBO’s iconic mob drama The Sopranos, and voiced ‘Young Elsa’ in Disney’s globally beloved Frozen II. She also starred as a series regular on AMC’s NOS4A2, sharing the screen with Zachary Quinto and Ashleigh Cummings.

Her television work includes a recurring role as ‘Elisa Marie’ on Starz’s hit series Power, alongside Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora. Additional credits include Gotham (Fox) and Netflix’s The Good Cop. In the world of animation, Conforti lends her voice to Moon in the acclaimed series Ollie and Moon.

Rowan Blanchard recently appeared in Hulu’s hit series Poker Face and starred alongside Auli’i Cravalho in the Hulu rom-com Crush, produced by American High. Her previous work includes a role opposite Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs in TNT’s Snowpiercer, a recurring part on ABC’s The Goldbergs, and a lead performance in Disney Channel’s original movie Invisible Sister. On the big screen, Blanchard shined in Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time.
