Led by Sarah Shahi as party girl-turned-stifled suburban mom Billie Connelly, romantic drama Sex/Life follows its characters as they hit the sheets, shower and sex parties. Billie is torn between her husband Cooper (Mike Vogel) and her roguish ex Brad (Adam Demos).
Take a look below to see all the characters from the series that make the romantic drama, including some new faces you’ll meet in Season 2, which debuts March 2.
Sarah Shahi as Billie Connelly
No one rocks a hot pink motorcycle like Shahi’s Billie. When we meet Billie, she’s a Connecticut housewife growing bored of her predictable life; she keeps the home fires burning while her husband, Cooper, rakes in the dough as a Manhattan finance whiz. Billie starts fantasizing about her sexy ex-boyfriend Brad, kicking off Sex/Life’s complicated love triangle — which changes shape in Season 2 to more of a love square.
Billie may have history with Brad and Cooper, but someone else is bound to catch her eye on the streets of New York City.
You’ve seen Shahi on your screen for decades. Beyond her appearance as Supernatural’s very first paranormal baddie Constance Welch, she starred in crime procedurals Person of Interest and Life, flirty dramedy Fairly Legal, and superhero blockbuster Black Adam. You can also catch her on Netflix in Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings.
Mike Vogel as Cooper Connelly
Cooper is what happens to a quintessential Good Guy after years of repression. As he grapples with Billie’s dissatisfaction in their marriage, Cooper’s world is turned upside down. A mix of fixation and sexual exploration ensues.
Some Sex/Life fans might remember Vogel as Eric, Blake Lively’s soccer-playing crush in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. After that unforgettable turn, Vogel popped up in a few episodes of American Horror Story as John F. Kennedy and upped the scare factor as Secret Obsession’s secret obsessive, Russell.
Adam Demos as Brad Simon
Demos has become one of Netflix’s go-to heartthrobs. The rugged Aussie led rom-coms Perfect Pairing and Falling Inn Love, romancing Victoria Justice and Christina Milian as dashing heroes Max and Jake, respectively.
Sex/Life allows Demos to truly flex his romantic lead muscles as Brad. While Cooper is Billie’s handsome and safe option, Brad is a sexy, dangerous foil. He’s an insatiable music producer with a soft side. Billie and Brad’s relationship isn’t just about sex — there’s love and deep history here too.
Margaret Odette as Sasha Snow
Billie’s best friend Sasha represents the road not taken, as she enjoys unmitigated freedom as a single woman in Manhattan. Toward the end of Season 1, Sasha becomes the face of a new feminist movement with her book The Third Way. She urges women not to change themselves for heterosexual marriage.
Odette has appeared in crime procedurals including Elementary, Blindspot and Instinct. She played Hero in Much Ado About Nothing during the 2019 season of New York’s Shakespeare in the Park.
Li Jun Li as Francesca
In Sex/Life Season 1, Cooper gets a little too close to his boss Francesca. In Episode 6, Francesca tells Cooper he’s “the full package” and that she “doesn’t want to miss her shot” with a man as appealing as him. By the finale, it’s Francesca who gets a call from Cooper when he realizes Billie is at Brad’s apartment.
At the start of Season 2, Francesca and Brad’s relationship is going full throttle. The pair can’t help but make out at work and spend most nights together.
Jun Li starred in Wu Assassins as restaurant owner Jenny Wah. You may have also caught her in Damages, Quantico, the Chicago procedural universe, or in her recent scene-stealing turn as Lady Fay Zhu in the Oscar-nominated movie Babylon.
Jonathan Sadowski as Devon
Cooper is the angel on his own shoulder — and Devon is the devil. He’s Cooper’s randiest co-worker and the wildly dissatisfied husband of Trina (Amber Goldfarb, who we’ll get to soon).
Sadowski co-starred in Young & Hungry and guest-starred in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Good Doctor and Lethal Weapon. He made his feature-film debut in 2006’s teen Shakespeare adaptation She’s the Man.
Amber Goldfarb as Trina
Sex/Life usually portrays Connecticut as the blander half of its world. Trina spices up the suburbs as another housewife who wants a fulfilling sex life. In Season 1, she pursues that goal with an unexpected hookup at a raucous swingers party.
Canadian actor Goldfarb will be most recognizable to American viewers for her role as Trina, but they may have seen her before without knowing it: She’s contributed voice and motion-capture performances to more than 20 video games, most notably as Aveline du Grandpré in multiple Assassin’s Creed games.
Darius Homayoun as Majid (season 2)
In the Sex/Life Season 2 teaser, you may have spotted a “sexy dark-haired man,” as Rukeyser calls him. Now we know who that mystery gentleman is: Majid, Billie’s newest love interest. Majid is a sexy and single restaurateur who’s instantly charmed by Billie.
Drama fans may recognize Homayoun as Amir, the enigmatic son of Succession’s Marcia (Hiam Abbass). He also starred in Tehran and The Long Road Home.
Cleo Anthony as Kam (season 2)
Remember when we were talking about Sasha’s new love interest? Well, meet Kam. Sasha’s steamy ex and a globe-trotting doctor. The pair were college sweethearts whose relationship fell apart as their professional and personal ambitions became at odds. Although Sasha and Kam broke up years ago, the flame between them can’t be denied.
Sex/Life isn’t Anthony’s first time romancing a powerful woman on Netflix. He previously starred in She’s Gotta Have It as Greer Childs, Nola Darling’s (DeWanda Wise) charmingly cocky hookup.
Wallis Day as Gigi (season 2)
At the start of Sex/Life Season 2, it’s hard not to root for Billie and Brad to tumble into bed together. But there’s a new roadblock in their romance — and her name is Gigi. Brad’s new girlfriend is a well-known model and pregnant with their baby.
Before shaking things up on Sex/Life, Day broke out in the long-running British soap Hollyoaks. She then slipped into the superhero universe with big roles in two comic book series: Superman prequel Krypton and Batman universe drama Batwoman.
