Biography

Multi-hyphenate talent Sophie Thatcher has captured audiences with her layered performances, making her one of the most enticing young performers on the rise to watch. Thatcher is best known for her role as ‘Natalie’ on Showtime’s Emmy-nominated, coming-of-age survival drama series Yellowjackets. The series centers on a team of talented high school girls’ soccer players who survive a plane crash deep in the wilderness, and the aftermath of the group’s descent from thriving team to warring, cannibalistic clans.

Thatcher’s character has a punk rock spirit and habit of finding trouble, making her an unexpected member of the team. The series also stars Melanie Lynskey, Sophie Nélisse, Tawny Cypress, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Christina Ricci and Samantha Hanratty with Juliette Lewis playing the adult version of ‘Natalie.’ The series is currently in production on its third season and has received rave reviews as Showtime’s most-watched series of the last six years.

Thatcher will next appear in A24’s Heretic opposite Hugh Grant and Chloe East premiering at the Toronto Film Festival on September 8th with a wide release on November 15th. Early next year, audiences can see her in New Line’s Sci-Fi thriller Companion alongside Jack Quaid releasing on January 10th, 2025. Last year, she starred in 20th Century Studios adaptation of Stephen King’s The Boogeyman. The original short story explores a man’s visit to a psychiatrist, wherein he recounted how his children were each killed by the titular character. The film adaptation follows a teenage girl and her sister who are still reeling from the tragic death of their mother. They find themselves plagued by a sadistic presence in their house and struggle to get their grieving father to pay attention before it’s too late.

Thatcher also recurred as the spunky and mechanically enhanced ‘Drash’ in LucasFilm/Disney+’s The Book of Boba Fett opposite Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen. Thatcher has also starred in Quibi’s murder-mystery series When the Streetlights Go On, where she led the cast as ‘Becky Monroe’ and appeared on Chicago P.D., The Exorcist, and Chicago Med.

She made her feature film debut in the SXSW Award winning Prospect, in 2018 starring as ‘Cee’ opposite Pedro Pascal and Jay Duplass. The science fiction film revolves around a father and daughter’s perilous journey across an alien moon in search of valuable gems. She also appeared in Bleecker Street’s The Tomorrow Man, which premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.

A Chicago native, Thatcher started her career working in theater. Her stage credits include Oliver, Seussical, The Diary of Anne Frank, and The Secret Garden.

Thatcher currently resides in Los Angeles.
